Barry Eichengreen is the George C. Pardee and Helen N. Pardee Professor of Economics and Political Science at the University of California, Berkeley. He is also a Research Associate of the National Bureau of Economic Research, a Research Fellow of the Centre for Economic Policy Research, a fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, and was previously a Senior Policy Advisor at the International Monetary Fund. Prof. Eichengreen studies economic history, including exchange rates and capital flows, the gold standard and the Great Depression, as well as European and Asian economic integration.
