Undergraduate Research & Travel Grant In International Studies
The Undergraduate Research & Travel Grant supports UC Berkeley undergraduate students who plan to travel to do research in international studies, in the broadest sense, to give a presentation at a conference on a topic related to international studies, in the broadest sense, or to enroll in a foreign language course. Students must be registered for the term in which they are planning to travel. Grant amounts will depend on the location of the conference (domestic or international). Applications need to be submitted in the semester before the trip takes place. After completing their projects, grant recipients are required to submit a one-page report and give a brief presentation of their work at the IIS Undergraduate Seminar held at the end of the Spring semester.

Eligible students must submit an application that includes:
- A one-page description of the research topic;
- A one-page budget plan;
- An unofficial UC Berkeley transcript;
- (Only in case of a conference) a confirmation of invitation or acceptance to the conference [If a conference invitation has not been received by the application deadline, the application should include a description of the research.];
- One letter of support from a faculty member (subject line: "Recommendation Letter for [Last Name, First Name], Undergraduate Research & Travel Grant")
Open to any UC Berkeley undergraduate student who has completed at least one semester of study in residence at Berkeley. All majors are eligible and encouraged to apply. Concurrent enrollment students are not eligible to apply.
Applicants can receive a maximum of one IIS grant per year.
Up to $500 for travel within California, up to $750 for travel elsewhere in North America, and up to $1,000 for international travel.
Amounts are at the discretion of the selection committee.
November 15 for travel in the following Spring/Summer. April 15 for travel in the following Fall.
