Daniel Zoughbie has been appointed Associate Project Scientist effective July 1, 2021 through June 30, 2022 with the Institute for International Studies.
Dr. Zoughbie received his B.A. in Urban Studies from the University of California, Berkeley in 2006. He received his M.S. in Social Anthropology (2008) and his DPhil (PhD) in International Relations (2011) from the University of Oxford. Zoughbie trained as a postdoctoral fellow for one year at Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government and then spent another year as a postdoctoral fellow at the Center for Middle Eastern Studies here at Berkeley. Since 2011, Zoughbie has maintained a continuing Lecturer appointment in the International and Area Studies program at Berkeley. He has served since 2019 as the Vice Chair of the Center for Middle Eastern Studies (CMES). In addition to this breadth of academic experience, Zoughbie has worked in the private sector as a research consultant.
