On October 20th, IIS hosted the former Executive Vice Chancellor and Provost of UC Berkeley Dr. George Breslauer for a discussion on his 2021 book, "The Rise and Demise of World Communism". Dr. Breslauer presented in conversation with Dr. John Connelly, the Sidney Hellman Ehrman Professor of European History and Director of the Institute of Slavic, East European, and Eurasian Studies (ISEEES), and Dr. Puck Engman, Assistant Professor of History and historian of postwar China with an emphasis on the history of socialism.
