Undergraduate Student Assistant - Spring 2026
$20/hr up to 10 hours per week

IIS is recruiting up to three Undergraduate Student Assistants. This is a hands-on opportunity for students who are motivated to develop professional skills, engage with the Institute’s intellectual life, and interact with affiliated staff, faculty, and speakers. Student assistants will provide support for IIS Executive Director Jessica Olney and Faculty Co-Directors Daniel Sargent and Susan Hyde, and report to the Executive Director.

Responsibilities may include:
  • Research visiting speaker backgrounds and draft speaker introductions
  • Assist with in-person event logistics (guest speaker travel and accommodation, technology and room setup, greet attendees, catering setup, cleanup, etc.)
  • Design and circulate event announcements
  • Draft content and maintain the departmental website 
  • Update and maintain social media accounts and events calendars
  • Draft and distribute a monthly newsletter
  • Support the Institute with partnership development and community building through outreach to students groups
  • Other projects as assigned

*Training will be provided on tools including Canva, Mailchimp, Open Berkeley, Google Suite, and Microsoft Office products as needed. 

*Work study is not required.
