Junior Faculty Manuscript Mini-Conference Grant in International Studies
The Junior Faculty Manuscript Mini-Conference Grant in International Studies supports UC Berkeley tenure-track assistant professors who have completed a new book manuscript in the field of international studies, in the broadest sense. The purpose of the grant is to provide feedback to an author midway through the revision process. Conferences will typically be one day in length. Applicants may invite outside discussants in their field, as well as Berkeley faculty members, to provide written feedback on the manuscript and facilitate discussion on specific chapters. Ideally, applicants would also invite one Berkeley graduate student to comment on the manuscript.
Eligible candidates must submit an application that includes:
- A manuscript synopsis (up to four pages);
- A CV (up to four pages);
- A one-page itemized budget.
The application webform can be found here.
Open to any UC Berkeley tenure-track assistant professors.
Applicants can receive a maximum of one IIS grant per year.
Maximum of $4,000.
Funds must be spent by the conclusion of the conference for which they are awarded. The conference must take place during the academic year following the grant application. All funds will be allocated to the respective departments. Grant recipients are responsible for organizing the conference. They are encouraged to use the IIS conference room. All unspent funds must be returned to IIS by the conclusion of the conference.
