Robert O. Collins Award

Description: 

IIS is seeking to award up to $10,000 for the 2012-2013 Robert O. Collins Fellowship to support junior faculty research in African studies or African languages. The award is a tribute to Professor Robert O. Collins, a leading scholar of the history and culture of the Sudan and of East Africa, and recipient of the 2005-2006 Edward A. Dickinson Emeriti Professorship at the University of California, Santa Barbara.

Eligibility: Any junior faculty member conducting research in African studies or African languages. The award amount may be used for research support at the discretion of the junior faculty member, and it should be used in accordance with University policies. The award recipient(s) will present their research at a special honorary event held at IIS.

Application Details: 

The IIS Faculty Grant Committee will review all applications. Each application must include the following components:

1. Cover sheet (see attachment below);
2. CV;
3. Research proposal highlighting:
  • The research plan
  • An itemized budget.
