Access to timely medical care is a critical challenge in the developing world, particularly in countries with weak public health infrastructure. The Global Health Diagnostics Initiative (GHDx) at UC Berkeley addresses the need for appropriate, low-cost diagnostic technologies to improve health in low- and middle-income countries. Through a speaker series, symposium, journal club, and travel grants, this program brings a global health focus to the fields of biomedical engineering, health sciences, and innovation economics.
