The maximum amount available for each series will be $30,000.
Eligibility:
Only senate faculty and lecturers are eligible. Visiting professors may participate in the colloquia, but will not receive individual research funding.
Preference will be given to international students who cannot apply for other sources of funding within the United States. Students will not be eligible to receive award funds unless they have advanced to candidacy.
While you are welcome to apply for all three graduate fellowships (Bendix, Sharlin, Simpson), please note that the total award amount cannot exceed $12,000.

Grant amounts will depend on the location of the conference but will generally be in the range of $300-$400 for conferences within California, $400-$600 for conferences elsewhere in North America, and up to $1000 for international conferences.
Merit scholarships will be up to $2000 each. An additional $1000 prize will be awarded to the strongest research papers (as determined by an IIS faculty panel).
Eligibility:
Open to any UC Berkeley junior or senior with a minimum 3.5 GPA who has completed at least one semester of study in residence at Berkeley. All majors are eligible and encouraged to apply. (Note: concurrent enrollment students are not eligible to apply.)
